Subscription Boxes

Subscription Boxes were born when customers communicated they couldn’t always make it out during business hours. This Subscription gives them the choice to pick up at designated locations or the farm during off hours. This is a no-brainer way to keep local food in your hands during the prime growing season! Feedback has been wonderful from families and individuals who have enjoyed trusting the farmer to select the prime options for the week. This is a great way to not only support my farm, but other neighbor’s farms as well! Check out our subscription offerings to see if this would fit your needs!

Fruits

We grow pears, apples, peaches, nectarines, cherries, plums, and blueberries! All of our fruit is grown with the IPM program to bring you a steady and healthy crop year after year. Selling direct to consumers allows us the freedom to allow fruit to stay on the trees longer making a difference in the flavor, in cherries and peaches especially. People come back year after year for the quality of our apples, pears and other fruits. Fruit can be purchased almost all year round, even when our farm stand is closed. Customers can buy small quantities, boxes, or even bins of fruit! Simply contact us to find out what is available as the season’s change.

Pantry Items

We keep our farm stand stocked with preserved items such as canned peaches and peach jam, both made from our farm’s peaches! These are made at one of the last family-owned small-scale cannery’s in the country! Both items are creating their own following!

We also have a wide selection of jams, dressings and fruit syrups all made from Oregon fruit. From Marionberry to Strawberry Rhubarb, you will find a jar of jam to delight your taste buds!

We carry honey from long time family friends who have apiaries in our hometown. This honey is sought after and so lovely on fresh biscuits or a simple spoon full!

Crafts & Gifts

We carry an assortment of crafts from our neighbors! We live in a talented community and love supporting their creative side! Pottery, soaps, jewelry, hand painted tea towels, candles, wood items, such as useful kitchen spoons and knives and beautifully sewn pot-holders can add a splash of color to your kitchen! You can find gifts for yourself or others throughout our season!

Our Process

Our fruit trees, peaches, nectarines, apples and pears follow a similar treatment in the early season. Our pest and disease control program starts when the trees are just coming out of dormancy in late February or early March.

We use a preventive oil and sulfur or lime-sulfur on all our fruit trees. This spray inhibits egg laying as well as smothers eggs that have been laid. The adult insects such as aphids, scale and mites are also affected to some degree. This sulfur spray is also good to control apple and pear scab and other diseases such as leaf curl in Peaches.

As the bud swells, we start our weekly monitoring of the orchard for insects and record and monitor weather conditions for any disease infection periods. A formulation of copper and oils is commonly used just before bloom to reduce our numerous threats to the orchard, fire blight, cankers, pseudomonas, and other diseases. All our oils we use throughout the season are OMRI approved for Organic Certification.

For the summer insect and disease program, our first option is always to allow the natural predators such as ladybugs, lacewing, birds, earwigs and praying mantises, to do their job.

If we feel the target insect is not being controlled, then our next option is to use a “Soft” pesticide to reduce the population. A “soft” pesticide is one that will not harm the beneficial insects and many times only controls the targeted pest at its most vulnerable stages, when it is going from an egg to a nymph and while in the nymph stage. We use pheromones, insect traps and place bat boxes strategically by hot spots, such as older apple trees.

As the fruit develops and we move closer to harvest, we are much less critical of having the “perfect” appearing fruit since it is more important for us not to have any residual pesticide residue on our fruits. Late in the summer a food grade product is used to protect crops against environmental stress such as too much sun exposure. The coating flexes and expands with plant and fruit growth, extending efficacy and reducing number of applications. The food-grade ingredients means it has an excellent worker safety profile and no maximum residue restrictions.
